Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Advocate (VA)- A VA must have an interest in assisting women and children who are homeless.  As a VA, you would be working closely with homeless women and their children, help to coordinate services, assist with daily residential activities, assist with career searches, job skill assistance, and intake.  Training is provided every 1st Saturday of the month. A VA must commit to at least 1 time a week for 3 months. This position is for females 18 and older only.
Advocate Assistant (AA)- An AA must have an interest in assisting women and children who are homeless.  As an AA, you will assist the Advocate or the VA with daily residential activities, answering phones, and phone intakes.
Child Advocate (CA)
Donations Volunteer (DV)- A DV is responsible for sorting through donations.
Workshop Facilitators-We are looking for volunteers to facilitate workshops that will put the ladies on the right track towards independence.  For more information on this opportunity please contact Misty or Milly at 713-475-1480. or Diane at dianestanley@sarahshousetx.org
Helping Hands- From time to time Sarah's House has minor and semi-major repair needs as well as maintenance needs, grounds keeping, and etcetera.




Employment Opportunity

Advocate-Work closely with homeless women and their children. Coordinate services, assist with daily residential activities, assist with career searches, job skill assistance, intake. Food service license/course will be paid for by employer.
    Interest in assisting homeless women and children. Strong work ethic, communication skills, and computer skills. Reliable transportation. Great opportunity to gain experience in community service.  Preference for part-time, and shift days will be divided. Women encouraged to apply.

Grant Writer- Must have experience writing and applying for grants.  Salary will be adjusted according to the grants received.

Executive Director--Must have experience working with shelters and/or Non-Profit Organizations.  Bilinqual a plus. Job would entail speaking to organizations in regards to donations to Sarah's House.  They would be the "face" of Sarah's House and represent SH in the community.  This would be a part-time job.  (16 hrs a week) When finances permit it could become a full-time job.
